The outline can be done by applying a stroke to an object that has a pixrlmator background. For example the image below is four simple layers, from top to bottom: text with white fill no stroke text with 35px black stroke text with 50px red stroke black /41080.txt. Hope this helps.

Ftee Sep 14, pm Stef, I have had a go and came up with the first pic – which is great. I would now like to take this further and add in some graphics as shown in the pic on my first post. I can add in the graphics but no idea how to use the outline to go around the whole thing as it does in the first pic.
